Hope for the Spirit

Hope for the Spirit…WOW! This is a big one!

You have a soul (your mind and emotions). Your soul–or your mind, as we refer to it on this site–is connected to worldly experiences and information around you. Earthly matters and affairs are absorbed into and processed and filtered by the soul.

But you also have a spirit. And while many people often use these two terms interchangeably, they are different. Your spirit is separate from your soul. Your spirit is that vital part at the core of you that clings to that which is spiritual, heavenly and divine. Our spirits are how we connect to God, they are separate from all soulishness (our minds) and carnality (fleshliness/our bodies).

1 Thessalonians 5:23 says, “And the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly, and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

The fact that many people confuse the soul and spirit isn’t strange, though. Even God confirms that the two are closely connected and can only be separated by the divine sharpness of His word The Bible as evidenced in Hebrews 4:12:

“For the word of God is living and operative and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit and of joints and marrow, and able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

This is why it is so important to feed our spirits with Hope! Our spirits need to be connected with the Spirit of God. Our spirits need to be separated from our souls by His word so that our spirits can lead, while our minds (souls) and bodies follow. Just like God, we are comprised of 3 separate beings (our minds, bodies, and spirits). God The Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and Holy Spirit–The Divine Trinity–are perfectly united. We, however, are imperfect humans, and we have to put in the work to bring our minds, bodies and spirits into alignment–as perfect alignment as we can get.

But, if we don’t have Hope, how can we do that? We can’t.

So, I encourage you, make Hope a critical part of your everyday body, soul and spirit care.

Choose HOPE for your spirit! When you do, you will indeed…
